Environmental responsibility is part of Medabil’s values ​​and, therefore, the company constantly invests in technologies and actions that preserve natural resources. These values ​​are also in its products, which bring a more sustainable proposition to the construction industry, since the metal structure considerably reduces the amount of waste in construction and provides maximum utilization of natural resources, such as ventilation and natural lighting systems.

Medabil’s manufacturing plants have controls for the emission of gas into the atmosphere and their own Effluent Treatment Station. In addition, solid waste with final disposal is managed by a specialized company.

This commitment of Medabil toward environmental issues and sustainability of the communities where it operates has led the company to achieve the ISO 14001 certification – recognition that guides and encourages care for the environment and the development of society from a conscious and continuous effort.

Know Medabil’s Environmental Responsibility Actions

• Control of the Environmental Impact by Process: A control of the environmental aspects and impacts caused during each action is performed in each stage of the manufacturing process of Medabil’s products.
• Waste Reuse Program: The waste generated by machines – sandblasting residues, conrac, FPB, among others – are transformed into raw material again through Briquetting, according to the metallic content in the waste that was generated during the process. Briquetting is a process that consists in the agglomeration of particles, which turns into a compact product with suitable physicochemical metallurgic parameters through pressure. This material is sent to steel companies in the form of raw material.
• Rainwater Harvesting for Reuse: Rainwater is collected through piping and used in the restrooms. This reuse generates an average economy of 15m³ of potable water per day.
• Selective Garbage Collection: The waste generated by the units is selectively collected for the reuse of recyclable materials. Paper, plastic, glass, wood, metal and electrical wiring are selected and passed on to companies that are licensed by environmental agencies to be recycled.
• Environmental Indicators: As part of its sustainability program, Medabil Group works with environmental indicators for water and energy consumption and waste generation. They are used both to evaluate the evolution of the company’s integrated system and as a systematic to comply with all Brazilian environmental laws.
• Trainings: Internal trainings about the Environment and Safety are performed weekly at the factories, maintaining the high standards required by the company.
